A Day in the Life of a Project Engineer
You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You'll support an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban and rural areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You use programs such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in order to fulfill production work on your projects. You will manage projects through concept development, design review, bid package development, permitting, and construction management. You will help develop construction documents; and work with your team to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.
You will be at the table with clients and colleagues from a variety of disciplines, delivering project ideas from concept to construction. You take part in stakeholder and public outreach, developing feasibility studies and concept plans and prepare construction documents for innovative projects throughout the country. You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our Southeast and North American offices. Your job can sometimes be challenging, but you get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve!

Work Schedule for a Project Engineer
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Raleigh office of Toole Design is conveniently located in downtown Raleigh, just a few blocks from Moore Square and GoRaleigh Station. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
