The SGRC is seeking qualified applicants for the Planner 1 position. Duties include providing professional and technical assistance to member local governments in comprehensive planning, local development regulations, transportation (primarily bicycle and pedestrian) planning, and other specialized land use and resources planning activities. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary for this position as the applicant will work with local governments to update and write long-range planning documents. A bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Geographic Information Science, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years' experience and/or training in planning; long-range planning; or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job. Microsoft Office skills and the ability to compose and edit documents are preferred. Full-time in office position, Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 5 pm with benefits in Valdosta. Competitive Salary DOE/Q.
